If you've noticed small rough-feeling bumps on your arms and legs (or sometimes cheeks and buttocks), you are not alone. Those bumps are likely keratosis pilaris (aka KP), a common skin condition caused by an overproduction of keratin that has been nicknamed "chicken skin" for its trademark texture or "strawberry skin" for the occasional redness that occurs. It may also be ingrown hairs triggered by clothing, sweating or shaving. These conditions are different from body acne - but no less frustrating - and are a rough and bumpy barrier to your smoothest skin.
